As my Christmas gift to my siblings, I've posted these Christmas recipes that my mom passed down to me. A few weeks before she died, Mom and my sister Janet came to my home and we spent the whole day baking Mom's favorite recipes. It was exhausting! But by the end of the day, the house smelled like Christmas. Three weeks later, Mom died. All the cooking gear stayed in a pile in my kitchen for months ... I just couldn't bear to touch the recipes, mixer, cookie presses, anise oil. In the spring, I asked my dad what he'd like me to do with Mom's things. "Can you use them?" he asked. "Sure." "Then you keep them." I've used them, with thanksgiving, every year.
And Bon Appetit!
